question on Cherna & Lebricia
My grandmother is 90 & her name is Charlotte. She has always told me that her "Hebrew Name" is Cherna. Can anyone tell me if this is the correct spelling. What is the meaning? It is pronounced Chair-Nah, correct?Lebricia: this is a name in our family tree. Has anyone heard of it? What Nationality is it, and what does it mean? Thanks!

The name should be spelled Čierna and means "black" in Slovak-Yiddish (check http://www.learnslovak.com/index.php?pageID=2). The pronunciation is correct.

Thank you so much!!! My grandmother's background (ethnically) is actually Lithuanian, but this makes sense.
