Actually no, the girl with the name took on the pet form Zoey because she hated Zoetta.

That doesn't nullify Mrs Claire's point in the slightest. If someone named Annetta went by Anne because they didn't like Annetta, that wouldn't change the fact that Annetta is a pet form of Anne that is used as a given name.Zoetta looks and sounds like a pet form of Zoe, and I'm willing to bet that it's a pet form that has crossed over to the formal name side.

So if someone named Katarina goes by KathernieBecause she doesn't like Katarina, Katarina is therefore not a form of Katherine? That makes...no sense. At all. Zoetta has all the elements of a pet form of Zoetta. Whether or not she dislikes it and is going by Zoey does not nullify that fact.

Siri, no need to be rude - as you are through your diction, no surprise. That's what she said that her parents who named her said.

Siri was not rudeThe meaning and the origin of a name don't change because somebody decides to go by another form.Lumia

Maybe she did not like the -etta sound?Zoey may mean the same thing as Zoetta but it sounds differently.- She said he made a racial slur!
- Racial? She is Swedish!
- Maybe he called her Meatball."I’ve given it a lot of thought, and I’ve decided to be spontaneous."

"Zoetta has all the elements of a pet form of Zoetta." Erm? :S
I'm not sure what you mean...So, her given name is Zoetta and I asked what it means.

I believe it was a typo. She meant "Zoetta has all the elements of a pet form of Zoe." Meaning, I suppose, that Zoetta is a diminuative of Zoe. Just because a nickname, diminuative, pet form, etc. is supplied as a "given" name does not mean it isn't still a variation of the original. Hence, Zoeatta has the same meaning as Zoe, but the ending implies that the named is a small girl.
