I think it's pronounced as a-reh-TEH or a-reh-TEE in Ancient Greek since it's written as ἀρετή in Ancient Greek, and αρετή in Greek.

In ancient Greek Ah-RET-eh, but from the Roman period most dialects would pronounce it ah-RET-ee

I would pronounce it 'ah-REH-teh' like the Spanish word for 'earring'
