Depending on your pronunciation, you might be able to extract the nick name Ray out of the last syllable of Desiree.
It seems like the older and more common a name is the more nick names it has. Mary is not that long of a name and yet it has loads of diminutives along with various forms. Some of the diminutives are Molly, Polly, Mae, May, and Mamie.
Robert has a lot of diminutives: Rob, Robbie, Robin, Bob, Bobby, Bert.
William has Will, Bill, Willie, Billy, and now Liam.
Cassandra can be shortened to Cassie, Cass, Sandy, and Sandra.
Edward- Ed, Eddie, Ned.
