Is it possible that Sina is a variant of Signe?

I disagree. Sina is certainly not common in Sweden. There is only 78 women named Sina in Sweden (and 227 men).

I have Sina in my own database as a short form of names ending in -sina, like Rosina or Teresina, used in German-speaking countries. I took that info from the "Duden Vornamen", a reliable German given name book.

Might well be that the Scandinavian Sina is such a short form as well.
