BRISKO
We are having a young guest (male) who goes by BRISKO. He claims it's Slavonic and means "wise." My guess would have been >FRISCO >FRANCESCO. I can't find it in any of my books.

According to Knaurs Vornamenbuch, Brisko is a Slavic pet form of Friedrich. (I'm not sure how that works linguistically myself, but that's what it says!)
Thanks for this piece of information!

I forgot to say that the boy is German with a German mother, an American father, and a French grandmother. Unfortunately I won't have a chance to ask the parents where they got the name from.
