It surely isn't a traditional German name. I would say that it is a possible romanization of Танев, also writable as Tanev. It seems to be the Bulgarian diminutive of names such as Atanas, Stan, Stanko, Stanimir, Stanislav.

Thank you! The name of the journalist is Tanjev Schultz. Wikipedia does not know about him. So I have no idea what his backround might be and the last name Schultz does not help either.
