Egyptian history behind the name Sam

I read somewhere that Sam was the distinctive name of one of the highest orders of Egyptian priesthood; that Rameses (?I) belonged to the order of Sam. Does anyone know anything about Egyptian priesthood or know where I can go to find information concerning this?
