Re: Has anyone heard of the name Tehya before?
The word or name Tehya might be Cherokee, but I've only heard this from a questionable source. Maybe someone from the Cherokee Nation could confirm or deny this for you.

It is an Indian name that means "precious" according to the naming books. My Niece is named Tehya and she is a beautiful, smart, funny baby.

How does your niece pronounce her name?
Thinking about calling our baby Tehya but want to get it right!

Hi,My daughters name is Tehya. When she was born I spelt it Tea (with an accent mark over the e) but changed the spelling because everyone messed up her name calling her tea (the drink) and Tia. I got the name from Tea Leoni (the actress) and found this new spelling from someone i met at the airport when she was calling her daughter. This new spelling im not having any problems with anyone getting her name right.Tracey

Believe it is a native american name meaning 'precious'.
I think it is pronounced 'Tay-ah'. You might want to double check that as that was just from an internet site and there are always a couple of different ways of pronouncing a name.
Think it is a really lovely unusual name.

We're going to call our daughter like that. It's a pity that no one knows from which language it is... I pronounce it like this téheea with an accent on the "y".
