Yesterday, I was leafing through the birth announcement in the local paper and saw the name Maria Sevasti on a baby girl.
I've never heard the name Sevasti before! I live in Finland, and over here, the name would be considered extremely rare. An Internet search provided several Greek links, but none of them gave any meanings or history. Could it be a variant of Sebastian? Greek Orthodox?
Can any of you guys help me here? I'd like to have as much info as possible: the meaning, history, usage in Scandinavia etc.
TIA,
Lass
