Geordan
Hi i was wondering how u would pronounce the name Geordan-is it JOR-DAN OR GEOR-DAN-u get the drift.
I read on a celtic website that its the Scottish version of Gordan-which is funnily enough a Scottish name anyway-so one would assume it's pronounced the same way. However i heard a commentator for the British Lions say Jor-dan about one of the players whose name was Geordan Murphy!-me confused.
If anyone can clarify this that would be good.
thanks

thankyou wasnt aware of the previous post
Use Search next time
The Search link is right next to the "Post a Message" link up on the toolbar. You can only search on the board you're actually on though: i.e. if you're on the Facts Board, you can only search the Facts board; if you're on the Opinions Board, you can only search the Opinions Board.
To look for old posts, select "All Messages" from the dropdown "When" menu.

I'd suppose you'd pronounce it as Jordan. It must be like Geoffrey or something.
I have only ever heard Geordan Murphy's name pronounced JOR-dan, but that doesn't mean much. George is pronounced JORG isn't it so perhaps it follows the same pattern. I'm not sure though.

sorry I posted this in the wrong place...
I've never heard of the name Geordan before, but it looked like a variant of Jordan to me, unter the influence of George. I'd pr. it JOR-dan.
