According to Thomas Heywood, author of *The Hierachy of the Blessed Angels* (published in London in the year 1635), Adriel is listed as being one of the Angels of Death. It is said that Adriel will "in the last days slay all souls then living."
And, because the angels are supposedly sexless, the name can be applied to either a boy *or* a girl.
