Re: Origin of surname "Buonarroti"?

Hanks & Hodges's A Dictionary of Surnames says that Buonarroti is from the medieval Tuscan given name Buonarroto, which was itself made up of the elements buona "good" and arrota "gain, increase". The first name Buonarroto was originally given to a child who was a welcome addition to the family and so provided a "good increase" to the number of children.
