I think, this is what everybody thinks. At least I did until I found out that it is not used that way, but only for
Henry

Harry
&
Hal
are both used as pet forms of
Harold
sometimes.
But when either is used as a given name (not a pet or nickname), the connection is usually assumed to be
Henry
.
