Re: Japanese male names

Those would be unusual meanings for a male name. I think you are mistaken about them. The word for "flower" is "hana," not "hide." Hide is often written with a character meaning "excellent" (秀) or "hero, outstanding" (英). Haru does mean "spring" as a vocabulary word (春). It is not considered unmanly for a name to include a character for a season of the year. In names Haru is also often "rule, reign" (治) or "clear up" (晴). Aki means "autumn" as a vocabulary word (秋), and in names often "bright, shining" (昭) or (明). There are even more possibilities; Japanese kanji use in names is very flexible. But it's safe to say that "beautiful flower" is not a usual meaning for a man's name.
