Re: The name Arabella

Hi !!!
I found many possibile etymologies:
1 from Latin 'orabilis' that means 'invokable'
2 from Latin 'ara' and 'bellus' at the nominative so 'beautiful altair'
3 from Latin 'ara' and 'bellum' at the plural nominative that means 'altair of wars'
4 dim of the ethnic adj 'araba' so 'the Arabic one' or lately 'the dark-skinned one'.
5 a Scottish form of Annabel.
All them can be possible.
