Never heard anything like this in Indian context, but do see http://www.behindthename.com/bb/fact/9380 jaYalekha is indeed a Sanskrit word from the roots ji to conquer giving jaYa, victory, and rikh/likh to scratch giving lekha a scratch or writing. The feninine suffix -A would give jaYalekhA, and the words jaYa and lekhA are immediately recognizable in modern Bengali.
