Hi, Magia!
If we all weren't nosy, we wouldn't be here on the board, would we?
I'm far from being an expert, too, but I do know some languages. I am
German to begin with and thus can read Dutch (fairly well). I speak English and French and read Italian (and a bit of Spanish). I studied Latin, Greek and Hebrew, and of course I am very much interested in the changes all those languages took throughout the centuries. - But enough of showing off!
There are very many on the board who are really good at some languages and at etymology, but very few, I'm afraid, can make a living from it. The only money I make from this is the lousy Euros I get from the newspaper for my weekly articles on first names. But if I find an editor, there might be a book from those articles, and of course this is going to be a bestseller (ha, ha!) … There will be another book coming hopefully in 2006 with shorter articles on
Christian names with the stress on
CHRISTIAN encluding a CD to print name cards. But no living from this either … Still it's a beautiful hobby, isn't it?
