It has, although not often, and as far as I can tell, always as a family name from the surname. It's usually pronounced Dee-ath or Deeth, and there are various spellings in use. Here's some explanation of its origin:

Not: Death Bredon? I seem to recall it was that sequence, not your one. And he goes by Death Bredon in "Murder Must Advertise". This causes mild surprise when he joins the company as a new copywriter. Good book: I'll reread it, I think.
