Re: our son's name

You traced the etymology yourself - you're using it as a variant modern self-created spelling of Giles so 'young goat, kid' would still be the meaning. There is no other etymology because, simply put, if you distance it from Giles, it's simply a name you made up and names you make up don't have linguistic meanings unless you based them on a word or another name.
I haven't seen Jyle but there's a woman on the opinion board who has a Jye.

Not to be nit-picky or anything, but Amanda might appreciate it if you spelled his name Jhye. lol! ;)
LOL - I was in the ballpark, right?
Goodness but I do appreciate an established name in the established spelling don't I? Couldn't have anything to do with my old-lady memory could it? ROFL

Yep, you were close - but I was just thinking about how mothers are so often very picky about people spelling their children's names right! Like my friend Justina - if you accidentally leave off the "a", the name is one of a completely different gender whatsoever! And trust me, it's happened before!
lol! Of course it doesn't have to do with your old-lady memory, as you say! It only has to do with the name not being in the names database! ;)

hi! I am looking up my daughter's name because their homeroom teacher asked all of them meaning of their given names...we named our daughter jyle too as we wanted a different unique name though we really do not know the real origin of this name...she's often mistaken for a boy when people see the name though.
