Re: From Where Does My Name Come From, What Does It Mean.
Irasema is a graphical variant of Iracema, a Portuguese and Spanish name. The name Iracema is from Tupi origin and means "come out from the honey" or "come out from the bees". It was used by the Brazilian writer J.M. de Alençar for the main character of the indigenist novel Iracema (1865). The name is an anagram of America and it is possible that Alençar made up the name, because of the subject matter of his work, and the meaning in Tupi was only a mere coincidence.Lumia
