The only way to prove it would be to have a written record: Caelius, formerly known as Coel, lived here. Or, indeed, Coel, formerly known as Caelius! Which is wildly unlikely ... and anyway, I can't see the point of assuming that the ancient Britons were so short of names for their royal families that they'd adopt Roman ones. Wouldn't that be like assuming that during World War Two people in the English-speaking world must logically have named their sons Adolf because it was a well known name that they heard on the news every night?
