Re: Given name "Lodusky"
"Lodusky" is an American form of Lodoiska. This name came to the USA through the opera _Lodoiska_ by Luigi Cherubini. Cherubini in turn based his opera on a book by the French author Jean-Baptiste Louvet. I have looked at Louvet's book and cannot find an explanation of the character Lodoiska's name. It is possible that Louvet meant for it to be a Polish version of Louise, but at this point that's just speculation. It may be a name he simply invented. http://www.nndb.com/people/983/000097692/The name is found in many forms in public records in the USA during the early 19th century. Loduska, Lodusca, Lodorski, Ladusca, etc. are ones that I have seen in addition to Lodusky.
