Re: Ask&Embla... and Auriorla

Hejsan Malin!
Ask / Askr means "ash tree" and Embla means "elm". They were, as you mentioned already, the first human beings according to the Nordic mythology.
They were created by the Aesirs Odin, Vili (Hoenir) and Ve (Lodur) out of two pieces of wood they had found on the beach. Odin gave them breath, life and spirit, Vili gave them intelligence, feelings and movement and Ve gave them appearance, face, hearing and speach.
I've never heard of Auriorla... Sounds like Aurora, Aurelia or a combination of one of those with Orla... (?)
Regards, Satu

Hejsan Satu.
Yes... as I wrotre earlier, I was surprised that I couldn't find them here when names of other mythological(?) people were here...
Auriorla might have been spelled wrong... It might be aureorla or aureurla/auriurla or something like that...
Right now I'm trying to find out where it came from... if it's scandinavian or latin or something else...
thank you for your help.
