Swedish, English and German are related languages, they are all Germanic. So you will find the same (ore similar) names in either language. Germanic tribes even stuck to (at least some of) their names when they started speaking a diffenrent language. This is the case with the Visigoths, who gave up their Gothic language for some pre-Spanish, or the Normans, who at one point started speaking "French". So given names are fairly steady throughout many related languages, often more so than vocabulary words or grammar. (I'm not talking about names, that were passed from one country to another through Christian mission, like Thomas or Martin.)
