I taught a wonderful girl named Carmen once, so I've got good associations; plus, the opera heroine might be a bit frivolous, but she gets some marvellous music! (And in Latin, Carmen means "song".)
However, if you feel happier about changing it, maybe Carmel would be better? It's so close, and it means "garden", which is very lovely. Just one point - that L at the end might be tricky for speakers of Chinese, perhaps?
Many people would envy you the chance to choose your own name! Does the meaning of your Chinese name have any possible links to nice English names?
