That word origin may show up in the Prehistoric reptile genus(?) Tylosaurus, which includes mosasaurs and other scaryazhell 40-foot aquatic ancestors of monitor lizards that you wouldn't want to have surface while you paddled in your VW innertube off Paros.
The meaning of Tylo- in that context is in one of my dinosaur reference volumes, which are (alas) still in one of the 55 identical unopened cartons marked "Books".
