My baby book says that Noriko is a female name that stems from the name Nori which is Japanese and means "law and tradition".

D'you know if that's related to Nuriko, or would that be a different name?

It all depends.
What is the kanji for the particular name you're looking for? Each individual kanji character represents a different meaning and some kanji look remarkably similar to either a hiragana or a katakana character.
If you can get the kanji somewhere so that people who are much more familiar with the particular characters can see them, you will find the EXACT meaning for the name you are looking for.
