Because (and despite the pessimism of some of my peers)...

...I truly do believe that each new generation is smarter than the last. But then, I have the fortune to encounter a lot of bright teens in my line of work. I not only employ a lot of bright teens in my library as shelving pages, we have teen community leaders who organize programs in my library, such as weekly Anime Club meetings. They have full use of my library's audio-visual equipment (which includes a big-screen projection system), and they've proven themselves to be responsible and trustworthy with this expensive equipment.
Even though some people in my own generation may say that the kids of today haven't been taught a lot of things which we valued in our own time, I've noticed that the kids of today have less of the ignorant prejudices of previous generations.
So, yes, I like teenagers. And I'm proud of this new generation -- even though I never had any kids of my own to add to it. :)
