Haywood is a name (originally a surname) of geographic origin, describing where the bearer hailed from.
Haywood means "enclosed wood", from the Anglo-Saxon "hege" + "wudu". It's the name of several towns/villages in England, and the earliest placename spelling I can find is "Haiwode", dating back to 1086 in the Norman Domesday Book.
Given all that, where'd the "Sandy" come from? Just curious...
