I think Stephanie is a lovely name. It has a sort of elegance about it that most people ignore, just because it was quite popular some time ago. I like it without a nn, though. I know a Stephanie who goes by Sophie (which I don't understand at all) and have met one who goes by Stevie (which is kind of cute, but not really my style).
