Leilani
Recently i've fallen for Leilani. I love its meaning. But do you think i could use it even though i'm not Hawaiian? Would it matter. My fave combo is Bella Leilani (beautiful, heavenly flowers). Does anyone have any other suggestions?thanks

Of course you could use Leilani. It doesn't matter that you're not Hawaiian. Just because it's an Hawaiian name, doesn't mean it's only for use by Hawaiian people. I love the name Leilani and Bella is gorgeous too, but to me Bella Leilani doesn't flow at all. There are far too many L's and they all run into each other.

I once new a girl named Liliana (lily-ahna). I always thought that was pretty and it could be an alternate version of Leilani.

I love Leilani too. I would only use it if I lived in Hawaii though (hopefull by baby #2 we will!)

SighNot to take it out on you, but everyone asks these questions. My answer is, Yes, you can use it even though you are not Hawaiian. To me, its very stupid. Its like asking if I can use an French name even though I am not French kind of deal. It feels like you are saying that Hawaiian (or whatever culture) is too exotic sounding for a westerner. (And Hawaiians are indeed Westerners as part of the US)
Anyway, I personally love Hawaiian names, especially for girls. Leilani is certainly one I wish to use. I do not like Bella at all.

I like the name Leilani as well. i think it's fine to use it if you're not Hawaiian. I like Belle Leilani much better then Bella Leilani.

Just because you're not Hawaiian doesn't mean you can't use it. I have a friend from India whose name is Annika and girls use Megan even though it's a Welsh name, and they have no Welsh connections at all. If you like Leilani then use it. Bella Leilani is very pretty.
