I understand what you mean about the word names.
At least Charity is a virtue. I mean it's a word with a positive meaning.
Chance is just ... chance. Why not name your kid Fate? Or Odds? Or Probability?

I dont know about the whole positive meaning - to me all I can think of is a donation to the poor, as if the child is/was charity. Maybe people think of a giving person, I think of the parents saying the child is nothing more than charity.
