Definately Kate - it looks so much better.

I prefer Cate, its one of my daughters nicknames, her full name being Catherine, I just prefer the C spelling it seems softer somehow, infact with most names that can be spelt with a C or K I tend to prefer the C spelling.

Re:that depends........That depends on the surname. If the surname is McHenry, I would use Cate. On the otherhand, if it were McKenny I would use Kate. I perfer a C to a K if either were usable.

Kate coz I prefer it as a nn for Katherine or Kaitlyn which also start with a K.

Kate. Cate makes me think of the word "cape". I absolutely adore the name Kate. :-)Amanda

Kate just looks better, imo. In addition, Cate reminds me of all of those words containing cate: educate, eradicate, defecate, dedicate, etc. Cate also looks more trendy to me for some reason.

I definitely prefer Kate. Cate just doesn't look quite right to me.

Definitely Kate. Cate just looks wrong.

Cate...I generally prefer C names over K names, especially for girls. C just seems to have a softer sound to it. (My middle name is Katherine, and I really would have prefered the Catharine spelling.)

Kate!I really dislike the look of Cate, and sometimes it takes me a minute to see the name. Maybe its too close to cake? I really dont know but I really cant see myself ever spelling it with a C unless told "Kate with a C" as I started to write it.But I am this why with a lot of names. Kristina (or any similar names, they are all Ks), Caitlin, Shawn, Rachael (this is the odd ball), Allen, Collin, Sarah...the other ways of spelling really dont enter my head unless it is forced.

I prefer Cate - but mainly because I prefer C names to K names - (Catherine, Caitlin...)

I will say Kate

Cate. Not sure why, but it probably has something to do with the fact that I'm a Catherine. The C just immediately appeals to me.

Torn between two, I absolutely LOVE the name Cate/Kate.I think if it was Katherine I would like Kate, but it if it was spelled Catherine i would like Caitie. I sort of like Kate better just because it's more strong rather than the softer C.

I prefer it as a NN for Katherine/Catherine, but as I like the nn Kitty for the first spelling, I like Cate better.

Kate. It seems right.

KateI like both (but I do see them as NN's).
I prefer Kate , probably because I tend to favour K-spellings over C-spellings ( Katherine over Catherine etc). The K is just stronger to me, not sure if strong is the word I want, but I almost always go with the K option.
