Emmaleigh / Ayden
What do you think of Emmaleigh. I absolutely hate it. I see it and hear it everywhere. Also, what about Ayden? The new creative spelling for Aidan? What do you think?

Both are hideous IMO.

Oh! I've past this post a couple of times and I finally realized that Emmaleigh is a alternate spelling of Emily! Ewwww, yuck. I like Emily as a name, but not that spelling. It took me five reads to figure out what it said. :-) I like Aidan, spelled this way.

AAAAHHH!!! *hits head off desk several times, sighs, counts to ten, takes a deep breath and focuses mind away from trolls and onto the original subject at hand*I don't know what I think about Emmaleigh. I don't really like it but I don't think I quite hate it. Sounds a bit like Amelie and if they're meant to be the same then I think Emmaleigh cheapens the beauty of Amelie.Aydan. Err...Not quite sure on this one either! I like Aidan but I have never liked the spelling. This one is slightly better IMO though. Quite nice but a bit too 'of the moment'.Loving wife to Jack

I can understand why a parent would do this. Really. They love the name Emily, just hate its popularity. However, by avoiding the popularity issue, they have a trendy, made up name on their hands. It's just plain ugly. Changing the spelling of any name, especially when it's going to be pronounced the same, seems just silly to me. Aidan isn't a bad name. I don't hate it, but I'm not waving the flag for it either. However, Ayden makes be cringe. If a parent wants their kid's name to be "unique" and different, then don't name it something that popular. If one truly loves a name, accept that others do to. Don't try and change the spelling folks. There are variations and then just plain insanity.

agree...I agree, I can kind of understand why they'd do it too. And how they'd fail to notice how overwrought Emmaleigh looks, and how childish Ayden looks, to so many, many people. *sigh* Oh well, it could be worse. At least the names still sound nice. I feel like Emily, Aidan, and all their forms are getting a bit overdone these days, myself, but they're still pretty popular.- mirfak

True, true. I'd rather see an Emmaleigh than an Amily any day based on the pronunciations alone.

Emmaleigh. - takes a fairly attractive if very common name and trendyfies it to a point of total unattractiveness , I am so bored with people adding Leigh or Lyn onto names because they think it makes a name unique, sadly it doesnt it just adds another somethingleigh to the pileAyden - ah the trendy Y its so magical isnt it feminises a name gives it style - Not

Actual opinion of post...I don't like Emmaleigh or Ayden. I don't like them in their orginal form so the kree8ive form just makes them worse.Kristen~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Folks, you clearly ..... have nothing better to do, but could you all (all of you) please go be childish somewhere else, and leave the Behind the Name Opinions Board space available for people who really want to discuss names? Thanks.- mirfak

I hate both. They are pathetic attempts to make common names less so by spelling them weird.
