I absolutley love the girls name Shaelyn, possibly spelt Shailyn. Her nickname would be Shae or Shay.*WDYTO Shaelyn*How would you spell it?*If you dislike like Shaelyn, please say why.

I think it's awful, sorry. It's trendy, made up sounding, immature, rather trashy and yet another name with -lyn on the end (I even saw Faithlyn the other day) and will date her to this period in time.I don't know what spelling is best:
Shaelyn has the trendy -ae- in it
Shailyn is slightly better but as someone pointed out could be pronounced SHY-lin.
Shaylyn I'm not keen on the -yly- part, that is very immature/trendy IMOProbably Shailyn.

*WDYTO Shaelyn?
- I actually don't mind it. It's quite pretty, especially with the nn Shae.*How would you spell it?
- Shaelyn, nn Shae or Shaylyn, nn Shay. I think Shaelyn looks the best.

It looks very made up and trashy too me. It just blends with all these -lyn names made up in an effort to be "unique". I personally don't like the "Shay" element either. Plus, I find it much too informal and cutesy. Children don't stay 5 years old forever. A 32 year old professional name Shaelyn or Shaeley is hard to take seriously to be honest.Thumbs down for me.

It has a nice sound, but it seems so trendy like most of the other -lyn names. Shae / Shea would be less trendy. As for the spellings, I prefer the spelling Shaelyn over Shailyn.

The addition of -lyn to any other syllable these days pretty much creates a name that is too cutesy, too precious, too flimsy, and too faddish. Just plain Shae / Shea / Shay is a nice name.

I really, really don't like this name. If I HAD to use it, I would spell it Shaelyn because Shae is at least a real name. To me, it's trendy, meaningless, dated, ugly, and inappropriate for an adult. I couldn't picture Judge Shaelyn Smith or President Shaelyn. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but it's an honest opinion.

I don't personally like it. It sounds trendy. Irish names are HUGE right now, and Shaelyn is the Irish name Shae paired with trendy -lyn. I prefer classic names to newly formed, trendy names. I'd spell it Shaelyn. Shailyn looks like "Shy-linn" as opposed to "Shay-linn" which I think is the sound you want.I like the nickname Shae with it, if you spell it Shaelyn.
