Thoughts on the name Blake for a girl?
What are your thoughts on Blake for a girl?

Replies

Why? Why do people insist on dredging up the least feminine names possible and then ham handedly duct tape them to girls and declare 'see, it fits.' No it freaking doesn't.
In a word, ugh.
Just another lnfn; not a very likeable one at that, for either b or g. Flakey Blakey comes to mind.

I like Blake for a boy but not a girl. Blakely is okay for a girl.
tl;dr - 5/10 decent but doesn't appeal to me personallyTrying to think of it as likeable...
It has a crisp and light punch to the sound, like saying "great!" and so kinda gives me a flip/carefree yet tidy/buttoned-up vibe, like, all wrapped up, no work left to do! A little bit like Blythe.
It would seem well-suited to a person with a sardonic wit.
I personally don't much like the sound and feeling I get from it, though. I think both Blair and Laken are more appealing, said aloud.
Blake as a first name just seems rather casual and impersonal to me - almost like military fatigues.
Same if it is on a guy vs on a gal. It seems genderless, but in a way that is adaptable to the bearer's sex, not as neutering / uni-sex as some names are.

Don't like it at all
I'm not a big fan of Blake in general, but I like it on a girl better than a guy. As a boy's name it's boring, but as a girl's name it has a kind of tomboyish charm.
I like it on both genders, but preferably on a boy.
Great boy name, not a great girl name.
I once taught a girl with a very popular first name (think Lily or Sophie) and the last name Blake. She went exclusively by Blake. I thought it was cool, which is odd because I don't like surnames on boys or girls as a rule.
I know a female Blake, used to work with her. She'd be in her early thirties now. Not a bad person, but had a tendency to share TMI about bodily functions (her own and other people's) and was physically unattractive as well.
The name, I don't like even for a boy. It sounds too much like flake.
I don’t like it, but I see why people do.
Very ugly and harsh.
Horrible!
