Re: Do you have a name that feels like a modern name but is actually old?
Oh I love this kind of name. A lot of currently cool names were once considered old people names, like Leo, Hugo, Max, Charlotte, Sophie, Emily.... I guess because of the cyclical nature of name trends. Other names that feel modern but aren't:Alix (medieval French form of Alice)
Brice (an ancient saint)
Doris (dated to the 50s, but a truly ancient name found in Greek mythology)
Alison (a name in Chaucer's Tales)
Shayna (Yiddish name - my friend's great grandmother was named this)
Zoe (ancient Byzantine Empress name)
Tiffany (medieval version of Theophania)
Chloe (from the Bible and mythology)
Axel (Medieval Danish name)
Elli (Norse mythology)
There are actually a lot of really cool, obscure saint names that would work well for modern kids. I have a list somewhere....
