It's in my top 10 and I would name a daughter
Lydia without hesitation. I think it's a beautiful name full of cadence and melody; it's heard of but not popular, not much nickname potential but short enough and nice enough on its own not to need a nickname, classic and full of history but not dated or dusty. It even starts with L and ends in -ia, two patterns I really enjoy. It's basically a perfect name for me. I imagine a
Lydia would be intelligent and funny - spunky, independent, and rebellious, with a softer sweeter side. I also have some flirty and flighty associations left over from
Lydia Bennet, but I don't mind that too much.

Listen to the MUSTN'TS, child,
Listen to the DON'TS
Listen to the SHOULDN'TS
The IMPOSSIBLES, the WON'TS
Listen to the NEVER HAVES
Then listen close to me—
Anything can happen, child,
ANYTHING can be.
