HelpRe: How did you pronounce Hermione before Harry Potter (more)?

I'd never heard it said before HP, but I wasn't really a fan before the 3rd movie came out, which is when I first read the books. I was like 12 or 13 when the first one came out and I remember reading about it and reading her name HER-mee-own and thinking 'how ugly!'.
I much prefer her-MY-o-nee, it's much prettier!
