is the nickname Eliza wearable for Elisabeth?
I prefer the spelling Elisabeth over Elizabeth, but I like the nickname Eliza.

Sure, why not?

Yes, Eliza is a great nickname for Elisabeth either way you spell it. Nicknames don't have to be exact shortenings of the full name - Bobby for Robert, Kit for Katherine, Meg for Margaret so Eliza can work for the "s" and the "z" spellings.

Wearable sure.
IMO the S versus Z doesn't matter at all.But if you are pronouncing Eliza with LIEZ and Elisabeth with LIZ ... even if it were Elizabeth, it'd come off artificial to me, like one of those "having cake and eating it too" nickname-tricks.
Eliza prn -LIEZ- isn't really a *nickname* for Elizabeth in English, but a *form* of it, to me.
Eliza : Elisabeth :: Harriet : Henrietta.
If you're saying Elisabeth as -LIZ- and Eliza as -LEEZ-, then it would seem much more like an actual nickname, and not a 2-for-1 gimmick.

I don’t really think so. I feel like it would naturally be Elisa as opposed to Eliza.

I think if you like Eliza, you should just use it on its own and skip the messy middle step. Eliza's been accepted as a stand-alone name for centuries, and when you think about it, it actually is a bit of a pronunciation stretch as a nn for Elzabeth or Elisabeth.

Yeah. Elisa would probably work better, though.

Not really, IMO. But Elisa is.
