Thoughts on Michaela?
Pronounced Mic-KAY-laWhat do we think of Michaela? I hate any spelling of this name other than this one, but I'm considering it in both the first and middle name spot.

5/10. I had a classmate with this name, but she was sort of a bully. Much better than Mikayla for sure.

I like it

5 or 6I’m with you completely on the spelling. It’s a decent enough name, just one that doesn’t “wow” me. I think I prefer it in the middle.

8/10. I also like Michelina and would give that 9/10.

4.5/10Michaela is a better spelling than most, but it stills feels very 1997. I associate it with go-getter girls who received prominent positions whenever student activities required a council or leader.
Makayla and McKayla would rate a 2/10 or 3/10.

Meh. It’s fine. Not really my type, but it’s better than McKayla.

0/10- Hate the sound regardless of the spelling

Once upon a time I quite liked it. I still think it's cute when spelt Michaela, Micaela, or Mikaela. My little cousin is named Makayla, and that spelling has put me off the name a bit. It makes me think of the French novella and opera "Carmen" (although that character's name is spelt Micaëla).

I think it’s the prettiest spelling of the name

I've never met a Michaela that I've liked. Sheer coincidence, of course. But I really do prefer Michele, with one L. And I don't enjoy the prospect of Michaela shortening to Kayla.

I'd hate that as well! We mostly are thinking of this as a middle name though, so we should be in the clear.

It's ok but I prefer Mikaela, said the same way

I really like it, and I agree that this is the best spelling. I would most definitely use it as a middle name, since it's the name of my father, and my husband's father.

Yes, Michael is my dad's name as well!

Am I to understand you double the "k" sound? (Mic-KAY-la) I think probably not but it gave me pause.I like Michaela. It's not my favourite feminine variant of Michael but I definitely like it better than Michelle. I think it has a very elegant, feminine feel to it.

No, those sounds just flow into each other. I was describing the standard English pronunciation, just so as to distinguish it from the Hebrew pronunciation (me-chai-EL-a).

I like the pronunciation but really dislike the spelling. I don't care that it is the authentic original spelling; it just does not look good to me.
Our daughter's mn is Makayla and that's the spelling I preferred at the time. If I had thought more about it, I might have preferred Mikayla, but they are both spellings I like much better than Michaela.

A little bit dated perhaps. But not quite as much as some names. It would definitely make a good middle name. This is the only spelling I would consider.
