Callista sounds clumpy and awkward to me. I think Calla is much more "relaxed" and has a better sound to it.

I prefer Callista (or Calista, which I find more pretty!), and Calla can work as a nickname.

I don't know why exactly, Calla itself sounds a bit masculine to me. Maybe it's because the name of the Roman emperor Caracalla ends with "Calla".

If you use Callista, there'd be Calla as a nn option. If you use Calla, there are no options. Use Callista!

Callista is a little prissy, but I like it a lot. Would use it as a middle name.
Calla seems more rustic and modest and friendly, but capable of being elegant. I like it okay ... not as much as Callista.

Calla seems insubstantial to me as a full name. I mean I know it's a real word, a flower (calla lily), but as a name it seems incomplete to me, even more than Callie.
