Re: Frances/ Francis
I like Francis for a boy and Frances for a girl, it is a family name for me, my great grandparents were Francis and Frances Rylands.
I would be more likely to use Francis / Francis for a middle name
Frances Catherine is nice but I would much prefer Catherine Frances
Francis Jack doesnt appeal to me at all I would prefer something like Johnathan Francis
Alice Rose is lovely but Alice Rosalind would be nicer
I think its lovely to have a son names after his mother

I think your great-grandparents being Francis and Frances is really neat. I wonder if that's what broke the ice for them to introduce themselves? Do you know the story of how they met?And "I think it's lovely to have a son named after his mother" also! Alexandra and Alexander, for example, greatly appeal to me.~Lillian~

Sadly I know very little about them as they died before I was born, My information comes from my Dad and men seldom ask the interesting questions of older relations
I do know they were irish catholics and were not too impressed with my Church of England Grandfather lol, but Grandmother Florence obviously was as they had eleven children

I agree with you about Francis Jack, even Francis Jonathan would have been better. I don't know why, but whilst I think Jack is fine for a first name, it seems to nicknamey to me for a middle name- how strange is that? Alice Rosalind is just beautiful!
How interesting that your great grandparents were both called Frances/ Francis! Did it ever get confusing for them? I guess that a married couple and even a mother and son would probably have different nicknames, like Frances and Frankie or Frannie and Francis. Edited to add: Sometimes I'm really thick, if they were your great grandparents you probably didn't know them that well. Sorry!
