I think that both Francis (m) and Frances (f) are nice names (when spelled the correct way for their respective genders). However, as a matter of personal preference, Francis (for a boy) is more of a favorite of mine than Frances (for a girl).

I think Francis (m) and Frances (f) are definitely better. I just clicked on their links (which I probably should have done before I posted them, but never mind!) and I was surprised to see that it said Francis could be both male and female. I thought it was pretty set in stone that Francis was male and Frances was female! Oh well, never mind!

I knew a female Francis, who everyone at school used to call 'Francis the boy's way.' I never knew so many people were aware that Francis was a male spelling and Frances a female one!
