Re: Jezebel
It's like a feminist blog with the tagline: "Celebrity, Sex, Fashion for Women. Without Airbrushing." One of their tenants is to never say disparaging things about women's weight. They seem to call out a lot of online publications or media sources that alter women's images or that mishandle issues related to violence towards women. It branched off from the website Gawker, which commented on lots of celebrity and pop culture issues. You might be interested in looking at the Wikipedia article about it. The Wikipedia article also mentions an African-American stereotype around the name Jezebel. Someone suggested that this is what the name of the blog references -- as a way of taking back the stereotype, apparently-- but there was no confirmation source for that. So, a lot going on there.

I've also heard "Jezebel" as a negative , racist, stereotype for a seductive, hyper-sexualized black woman in opposition to the "Mammy" stereotype. Definitely a lot going on, and, even with attempts at reappropriation, not a great name to give a child.
