I think it’s sweet. I’d think the parents were pretty trendy/hipsterish though as I do think most people’s impression is that it’s pretty dated.

My 8 year old cousin just chose the name Thelma for her new dog though so maybe it’s more familiar/palatable to people than I think.

I can’t get beyond Thelma and Louise.

I think it’s a great name! I’ve seriously considered putting it on my PNL for a while now, but I’m not quite there.

I’ll be surprised and probably have to get used to it but I once I’m used to it I can see myself liking the name.

I'd be positively surprised. While it might not be one of my favourite names, Thelma has some old-fashioned, "grandmother who stuffs you with biscuits" or "elderly neighbour heavily rumoured to be a witch" charm.

I does seem freshly refurbished, like Dorothy. I’d be pretty delighted, in all honesty.

It’s my grandmothers name, and as much as I love her, it’s a terribly ugly name.

I think Thelma is a little outdated, personally, but not an overused old name

Edit: It also has a sound association with Velma so I think most children would think Scooby Doo. Most young adults / adults would think Scooby Doo and The Simpsons, and older than that? I'm not sure.
