Re: Nicknames with z-endings
in reply to a message by Alda
I have a friend named Dez / Dezzie, but it's short for Destiny.I think Jaz / Jazz is kind of a newer invention, but Liz and Des and Roz certainly aren't. I honestly think it's coincidental or at least a very localized thing. None of those seem like names I've seen a lot of personally.
It's not really in the same vein, but I like Fitz and Fritz.
I like Laz for Lawrence and variants.
I was just mentioning Zaz / Zazi / Zazie to someone for Isabelle / Elizabeth. It's more of a literary creation, but I feel like I've seen it getting more attention lately. (Maybe thanks to Zazie Beetz? That's her real name, btw. I checked.)
My mom called me Izzy a lot of my childhood.
I'm a fan of Kizzie / Kizzy, both as a Romani name and as a nickname for Keziah.

There's a popular French singer Zaz whose music I enjoy. I always thought the name suited her and her genre very well. I've never seen Laz, but it has a cool sound to it!
