This is my sister's name so I have purposely not read the other comments before I post. I might amend later. I happen to like Felicia, but think Felice or Felicity are sooooo much better. My main problem is that there are no flattering nicknames. As a kid I called my sister Fefe, which is... well, a dog name. As an adult I call her Fel. Not awful, but not flattering.
In the end, Felicia looks pretty written down, but there is something lost in the out-loud translation. My sister absolutely hates her name.My parents chose it for the meaning and I do like that bit. But when there is the delicate Felice (like Fel-ees) or the spritely Felicity on the table... Good bye Felicia.

Nobody else thinks "bye, Felicia"? No? Just me?It's a bit dated. I love Felicity though.

I do too, actually. I was just waiting for someone to bring it up!

It my middle name (one of them) and I've always hated it. I think the name is okay on someone else, but I dunno, Felicia doesn't feel like 'me' somehow.I think it's a bit childish, and for that reason I prefer Felicity.

I like the Latin American Spanish and Swedish way of pronouncing this name (fe-LEE-sya/fe-LEE-see-ah). I hate the fe-LEE-sha pronunciation.

I agree. I have a cousin Felicia, and everyone pronounced her name incorrectly as -SHA... I started liking her name so much more when I learned the correct intended pronunciation was -see-uh.

That pronunciation is not really incorrect, just different from other languages. Our Italian family pronounces it Fel-ee-cha which sounds very, very similar to Fel-ee-sha out loud.

I prefer Felicity as a name, but where I live, felicias are delightful little indigenous plants with bright blue daisy-like flowers, so I've always felt good about the word.

I have to look these plants up!!Thanks.

Hi Perrine !!!Felicia...The idea is ok BUT it feels too dated imo.In 2015 were born 23 Felicia in Italy (the lowest since '99) but it is ok because many of the names I like were worse in popularity than it. So it is rare yes, but not nearly extinct. My first impression is "dated" and "Southern name" (the most of Felicia live in Campania, Sicilia and Puglia). So..not my cup of tea.ETA I didn't see the Italian pronounciation in the database.
It is fe-LEE-cha with "ch" like cheek.

Yeah... my parents are from a town about 20 min. from Palermo (Sicilia) and they named my sister this and pronounce it fe-Lee-cha. Though, in the U.S. most people call her fe-Lee-sha. I would agree with the dated bit I think. My sister is in her mid thirties.
