Re: Swedish top 10 for 2016
in reply to a message by Ull
What happened with Alicia? A jump from #22 to #6 is quite unusual. I'm glad Wilma is getting less popular. I don't understand why it's so popular. No surprise on the list of boy names. I hate Charlie intensely. It's such a stupid name. Some unexpected new names in the top 100. Cleo? Where did that come from? Could Penny, Mila and Adele be explained by pop culture?
Milian? Yuck. Nicolas because of the prince maybe? I'm happy to see Thor/Tor being used. I wonder if it's because of the movies or because old Norse names are gaining popularity.

Like Remora, I think that Alicia's rise is connected to Alicia Vikander.
There was a cute kid called Cleo in Julkalendern 2015 (Swedish Christmas calendar tv show).

Yes, little Cleo was adorable!
It wouldn't surprise me if Selma (from the TV calendar 2016) becomes the next big hit. I just hope parents never discover Tua.

Selma is already quite high up at place 34. But might do a jump up like Alicia last year?

I bet that Swedish actress Alicia Vikander and her success in Hollywood have influenced Alicia's popularity in Sweden. But I'm not a Swede, so there might be other reasons too.
